Salisbury - 12 miles. Historic City. Attractions include Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, Old Sarum, good selection of shopping. Leisure facilities include bowling, Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Odeon Cinema, numerous restaurants and bars, City Hall and Playhouse Theatres. There are regular buses to Salisbury from Sixpenny Handley high street. Market days are Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Wimborne - 10 miles. An old traditional town with Wimborne Minster as it's main attraction. Places of interest include Walford Mill Craft Centre, The Priest's House Museum and the Model Town of Wimborne, plus the Tivoli Theatre. Kingston Lacy House is a National Trust site nearby. Market days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Blandford Forum - 10 miles. A Georgian market town. Attractions include the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery, Stour Meadows, nearby Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum. Local shops and supermarkets. There are regular buses to Blandford from Sixpenny Handley high street. Market days are Thursday and Saturday.
Shaftesbury - 10 miles. A lovely old town steeped in history. Set in a picturesque valley. Places to visit are Gold Hill (location of Hovis advert), Dorset Museum, local shops. Nearby Fovant Badges, Compton Abbas Airfield.
Bournemouth - 20 miles. Large town, holiday resort and blue flag beaches. Reasons to visit include great shopping, BIC entertainment venue, Winter Gardens. Beautiful Dorset Coast.
Poole - 20 miles. Ancient Harbour town. There are lots of historic buildings, museums and galleries to visit. It also has Poole Quay, the second largest natural harbour in the world. The Dolphin Shopping Centre boasts over 100 undercover shops. Sandbanks has miles of safe, sandy beaches and holiday activities. On the outskirts is the Tower Park Complex which includes, UCI Cinemas, Bowling, Water flumes and many restaurants.
Ringwood - 14 miles. Old market town with plenty of easy parking, traditional shops and convenient supermarkets. Market day is Wednesday. Nearby Moors Valley Country Park.
Southampton - 20 miles. Busy Harbour City. West Quay shopping arcade, New Ikea, various cinemas, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. The Mayflower Theatre offers excellent shows. Nearby Marwell Zoo.
New Forest - 12 miles. Offers over 490 square miles of natural habitat for animals and birds. Various pubs, hamlets and historical monuments. Great walking and cycling routes. New Forest Otter, Owl and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Other local attractions include Longleat House and Safari Park, Wookey Hole Caves, plus much more.
